Reasonable suspicion testing:

Reasonable suspicion testing is generally conducted when supervisors found some evidence or reasonable cause to suspect an employee of drug use. The evidence must be based upon direct observation by a supervisor. JST Truck permits, a California based trucking service provider. We are expert in conducting reasonable suspicion testing.   

Supervisor Role:

Supervisor must know that who is in charge of company policy and the person is going to be the designated employer representative, who may have good knowledge or generally knows how to interpret it. Supervisors must know, what is in the policy, They also understand what is it’s role, What does it stands for, what terms are defined in that, where is it located, in case you have some query we can refer back to it and again, supervisor will read the policy and they have any doubt related to it, contact that designated employer representative

Safety Sensitive Employees:

Safety sensitive employees are those who are responsible for their own and safety of other people.
A list of safety sensitive employees:

• Driving a truck
• Working on a pipeline
• Repairing an airplane
• Operating a ferry, bus, or train etc

Drugs of abuse:

The list of abused drugs: 
1.       Marijuana

2.      Cocaine
3.      Opiates – opium and codeine derivatives

      
4.     Amphetamines and methamphetamine
5.      Phencyclidine – PCP


Short term indicators of drug use:
1.       Physical appearance
2.      Speech
3.    Behaviour
4.    Body odours

Testing:

The DOT uses urine collection and testing exclusively for drug testing. Alcohol may be tested for using breath and saliva.


A driver shall not consume any amount of alcohol or be under the influence of alcohol 4 hours prior duty.

Employees shall not consume any amount of alcohol for 8 hours following a re-portable accident, or until he/she undergoes a post-accident alcohol test, whichever occurs first.

Why drug testing is required?

There are very harmful consequences of drugs injuries, one of the major consequence - accidents, there will be lot of injuries or accidents if the employee will not ensure a drug free environment in the workplace. Next is turnover, lost productivity, health problems, absenteeism, and behavioral issues. These all points will not only affect the single employee but the whole company.
